Studying Heroes of the Faith
from The Torchlighters
This Torchlighter’s video depicts the life of Harriet Tubman born into slavery in Maryland in 1822.  Through her faith in God she was able to escape to freedom in Pennsylvania but God kept leading her to return to free her family and other slaves. She became known as the “Moses” of her people, risking her life to make multiple rescue attempts in the south.  She also served as a spy for the North in the Civil War.  She would poss as a slave and get information from other slaves.  Harriet led an attack by the Union that freed 700 slaves. After the war she continued her stand for freedom by working with Susan B. Anthony to give women the right to vote. She died in 1913 in New York.
